Basil Besler Hand Colored Engraving C. 1613 Description: Basilius Besler Hand-colored Botanical Engraving published in Eichstadt (nr. Nuremberg), Germany in 1613. The engraving on laid paper with chain-linked watermarking depicts: proliferous, white double flowered and red double flowered english daisys; the bird s-eye and white bird s-eye primrose s. This folio print comes from the work Hortus Eystettensis published in 1613; plate number 112. Condition: There is some slight unobtrusive creasing horizontally through the middle of the page which is typical of almost all Besler s. This creasing was caused by the drying process of the paper, it was hung over a line to dry.
