Chinese Export Sewing Table Circa 1840 Description: Chinese Export Lacquered Sewing Table, Circa 1840; painted red and gold on a dark brown ground; featuring the shaped rectangular top opening to a fitted interior complete with ivory sewing implements and lidded compartments over a similarly painted frieze raised on lyre shaped pierced pedestals ending in animal form feet connected with a stretcher. This table bears a striking resemblance to one in Jane Austens Drawing Room in Chawton, England. Full Provenance and paperwork available on request, dating from 1849. Condition: is good overall, originally with a sewing bag, now missing. see photos.
